The face in front of the brain

Hello, I’m Be. I’m glad you find me intriguing and I’m grateful that you’re here.

So, let me tell you about myself…

About Be

“Who are you, and how did you get into creative thinking?”

I’m actually just a bit of a wild extrovert - but don’t be scared of me, I’m well trained! I’ve worked in design and marketing for 10 years and it’s been a real struggle at time. I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was studying my Masters Degree whilst working full time, which was a whirlwind to say the least. But through everything, I’ve always been an ideas person, connecting unusual things and presenting them with gusto to get people on board is my sweet spot.

After challenges at the start of my career with some tough employers and the constant feeling of not being good enough, I knew I wouldn’t be alone. I’ve been obsessed with refining my creative thinking and researching the science behind it. Now with lots of experience under my belt and plenty of tools, I’m on a mission to help people like me who never had that cheerleader on side.

Career highlights

“Have you got any big name drops?”

Haha, after 10 years I would think so! Yes, I have been lucky enough to work with some big names such as Mary Berry, Sainsbury’s, TKMaxx and Lakeland; designing packaging for kitchenware, illustrations and product development. Everything had to be trend focussed, a perfect balance of form and function with environmental and financial consciousness.

Another career highlight is working in a fast paced national agency, where I further grew in my career. Entering as a Designer specialising in branding, promoted to Campaign Manager working in social media and leaving after another promotion to Marketing Manager where I oversaw all of the creative campaigns for the agency.

Education

“What did you study to have your career?”

From as young as high school picking out my choices for GCSE’s I knew I wanted to work in design. After that I did A-Levels in Photography, Fine Art and Graphic Design, which barely felt like academia because I loved them so much. I then went on to study Graphic Design and Multimedia trying everything I could from print, to animation and advertising.

After graduating with a 2:1 I immediately went on to study Design Management at Masters level where I learned about creative direction, teams, motivation and lots of psychology around design. Obsessed with this deeper level of thinking, I graduated with a 1st Class Degree and have kept this constant learning mentality ever since.
