Think bigger than your competition

You don’t have competition, it’s you VS Persil.

One of my favorite inspirational facts came from Victoria Beckham.

Vicky Beckham? Yes, and, whether you’re a fan or not, there’s something we can all learn from her. And here’s why.

She was once interviewed and asked the question “How famous do you want to be?” As famous as Marlyn Monroe? As famous as her husband David Beckham? Who would a young, female singer aspire to be as famous as at the start of her promising career?

PERSIL.

Yes, you know, persil. Makes no sense. Or does it?

Victoria Beckham didn’t aspire to be like anyone else before her. She didn’t want to be a famous person or a celebrity. She wanted to become a household name.

A brand.

I cannot express the utter love I have for this reposonse. For staters - it’s just buzzer, it’s not even a glamorous brand. She didn’t choose Vesace, she chose a brand that everyone in the UK knows and has some kind of affiliation with.

But her thinking behind it was this - it’s a household name. She dreamt bigger than just a personal brand, bigger than celebrity status bigger than a brand.

Did she achieve it?

Well, everyone knows who Posh and Becks are. Everyone knows who SHE is. Not just a UK household name, she’s known globally.

When you’re looking for inspiration, it’s okay to look outside of your field. Maybe if Victoria Beckham had only dreamt to be as big as another celebrity, she would have limited her success.

So, what’s your measure of success? Who - or what - are you aspiring to be?

Do you have someone to help you on your journey? Let’s find your persil.
